Dr. Paul Caldwell

Dr. Caldwell graduated from the University of Toronto medical school. One half century ago. He says it feels like yesterday. Ok- maybe like last week. He’s been working at the Cobourg Clinic since Oct 6, 1976. Over the years, he’s been quite involved in his community- for example, he was instrumental in writing and recording the famous folk song “Float Your Fanny In The Ganny”. He has written books on sleep, Alzheimer’s disease, eating disorders and anxiety disorders. He has 4 daughters and 4 granddaughters. He was  on the board of the Ontario College of Family Physicians, and received the Council Award from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Dr. Ari Haukioja

Dr. Ari Heimo Olavi Haukioja was born October 15, 1950 in Helsinki , Finland and emigrated to Northern Ontario where he completed High School in Timmins and Graduated from Medical School at University of Toronto in June of 1974. Dr. Haukioja has been in Family Medicine in Cobourg since November of 1976, having worked as a GP -Anesthetist, GP Obstetrician, Emergency Physician ( in Cobourg, Campbellford and Trenton) and has cared for inpatients at both the previous Cobourg Hospital and Northumberland Hills Hospital for over 40 years. He currently continues to practice Family Medicine at the Cobourg Clinic and is married to Catherine, has 5 children, 4 granddaughters, 4 grand dogs, enjoys golf, hockey, skiing, riding his motorcycle and reading. He is not accepting new patients, but plans to continue working “a few more years”.


Dr. Michael Bayer

Dr. Bayer has been a family physician in Cobourg since 1997.  After receiving their medical degrees and family medicine training at McGill University, Drs Michael and Judy Bayer spent 7 years in Moose Factory on James Bay in Northern Ontario.  There, in addition to working as family physicians, they were instructors in the department of Family Medicine at Queens University, teaching medical students and residents. Dr. Michael Bayer has a strong interest in teaching and is the Advanced Cardiac Life Support Medical Director at Northumberland Hills hospital. He continues to practice Obstetrics and is a Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor. He has also been the facilitator of a local Practice Based Small Group for 30 years. His interests in teaching extend outside of medicine and he enjoys faith based discussions as they relate to a holistic approach to the individual. He also enjoys being the travel companion of Dr. Judy Bayer.

 

Dr. Damien Wijeyesinghe

Dr. Wijeyesinghe has been practising full time family medicine in Cobourg since 2013. He completed his family medicine residency in 2012 at the University of Toronto. During his training he spent 2 months in Cobourg as a resident physician and fell in love with the community. Almost immediately after graduating he took a position at the Cobourg Clinic, taking over for a retiring physician, and has continued grow his practice over the years. His scope of practice includes his clinic, emergency medicine at Northumberland Hills Hospital, nursing home medicine and working as a Hospitalist at NHH. Dr. Wijeyesinghe is not accepting patients into his practice at this time.

Dr. Jasmyne Carnevale Lizotte

Dr. Carnevale Lizotte joined the Cobourg Clinic in 2020. She studied at Western University in London, Ontario where she completed medical school as well as a MSc in Biochemistry. She completed her Family Medicine residency as well as fellowship training in Low Risk Obstetrics at the University of Toronto. Dr. Carnevale Lizotte provides inpatient care to her admitted patients as well as delivers babies at Northumberland Hills Hospital. She is passionate about full scope Family Medicine care and has a special interest in Womens Health and Obstetrics. Dr. Carnevale Lizotte’s practice is full but she is currently accepting patients who are pregnant and do not have a doctor as well as obstetric care referrals.

Dr. Mohamed Hasana Lebbe

Dr. Hasana Lebbe graduated from the Smolensk State Medical Academy in Russia with an MD (Hons). Later he finished an internship in Sri Lanka and worked as a family physician with interests in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After coming to Canada in 2013, he worked as a Clinical Assistant in Pulmonology at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB. In 2015 he completed the SIPPA program in Saskatchewan and received his license as a Family Physician. Since then, he has been working in Saskatoon, providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages, and with a special interest in geriatric and rehabilitation. Dr. Hasana Lebbe joined the Cobourg Clinic in 2021 and provides family medicine care as well as practices Emergency Medicine at Northumberland Hills Hospital.
